God Friended Me Season 2 Episode 7 Review: Instant Karma

at .

God Friended Me is gearing up for a big, life-changing moment for Miles.

And no, I'm not talking about Cara finally saying the 'L' word to Miles, which happened on God Friended Me Season 2 Episode 7 and was downright adorable. More on that later.

I'm talking about Audrey Grenelle's painting "The Path," which had a hidden message coded by the God Account.

A Friendly Church - God Friended Me

Grenelle admitted her Paris project was her attempt at pushing the boundaries of the art world, so every piece was created by an AI program.

Every piece but one.

"The Path" was the product of a hack on Grenelle's program, and we all know who's responsible for said hack.

Miles, Cara, and Rakesh spent much of the episode attempting to crack the 11-digit password protection.

Sameer: And if I don't?
Sameer's brother: Then we're no longer brothers. How could we be?

I was sure the winning lottery ticket numbers would be the correct password, but when they didn't work, I got thrown for a loop.

The God Account and God Friended Me always keeps us guessing.

Finally, Miles, Rakesh, and Cara hit the jackpot when they realized that Judy's hospital bracelet numbers were the key all along.

And look, if that's the case, either the God Account changed the numbers after Judy's incident, OR it predicted that Judy would have a brain aneurysm.

We're Sinking - God Friended Me Season 2 Episode 7

If the latter is true and the God Account can predict health emergencies, it would be helpful if it tried to prevent them, as well.

Judy would have made a great friend suggestion.

Anywho, once the painting got decoded, the message reflected a picture of a house.

But since we know the God Account doesn't do anything without reason, it wasn't just any house.

Cara: Do you remember our last night in Paris?
Miles: How could I forget?
Cara: And do you remember what you said to me?
Miles: I do.
Cara: Standing under the Eiffel Tower. It was perfect. And while I know that can never be duplicated, I thought I'd at least give it a try. Miles, I love you.
Miles: I love you too.

Fans of the series will recognize it as the house that Miles and Cara visited during God Friended Me Season 1 on one of their first quests to find the God Account's identity.

What could that mean? Does the God Account want Miles to resume his search to find the identity of the God Account?

Are the answers to all of life's burning questions inside that house?

"The Path" was supposed to illuminate Miles' new purpose in life, but what purpose could be hidden inside a run-down house?

The Lottery - God Friended Me Season 2 Episode 7

Does someone live there now that could help Miles or benefit from his help?

Is Miles supposed to buy the house?

The answers aren't that obvious, but that's why it's going to be such an incredible mission.

We know what to expect from each episode: Miles gets a friend request, everyone pitches in to help, they find a solution, the end.

But the new path will shake things up a bit. It's always good to keep the characters and the audience on their toes.

Oh, a ticking clock. The God Account is upping its game. I like it.

And whatever the God Account wants Miles to find, well, they went through a lot of trouble to send him those encrypted messages.

Admittedly, tracking down Audrey Grenelle for answers was a waste of time.

She didn't know much about who hacked the painting or their purpose, and she didn't even have the passcode that they needed.

She was useless in the end, but it seems like she'll be sticking around to see through the mystery.

Finding Purpose - God Friended Me Season 2 Episode 7

Miles might still be searching for his purpose, but Ali seems to have found hers.

Thank God. Literally.

Ali's been severely underused throughout the run of the series; it's about time she got her own storyline.

Much like her father and brother, Ali has always wanted to help people and thought she'd do it by becoming a psychologist.

You have a calling. And I thought I did too, but now, I'm not so sure.

But lately, the career path she thought was her calling wasn't giving her much happiness.

Her thesis is a reflection of her disengagement.

Pastor Olivia suggested Ali speak to the congregation about being lost, and when she did, she saw the light; she still wants to help people, but she wants to do it differently.

Being the daughter of a Reverand has influenced Ali in many ways, the most obvious being that she's a natural at giving inspiring sermons to her community.

And now, she's following in his footsteps by working towards becoming a Pastor for a congregation that understands and accepts her.

It seems like a natural storyline for Ali and one that will allow Arthur to remain involved and supportive. Oh, how far they've come as a father and daughter.

Seeing Ali proactive about a situation that was weighing heavy on her inspired Arthur to do the same.

There's no doubt about it, he was in denial and hoping things with Trish would just " blow over" when he should have been fighting for their relationship.

However, Arthur has an important decision to make and one that only he can answer: what does he want?

Does he want to further his career in the church? Does he want to be with Trish?

Family Moments - God Friended Me Season 2 Episode 7

The obvious answer is that he wants both, but if that's not possible, which part of his life is he comfortable sacrificing?

While most of the episode focused on the Patel brothers and the case of the million-dollar lottery ticket, it felt like an afterthought after everything that happened to our main characters.

But mostly, the lottery ticket storyline was frustrating because they let a million dollars go to waste and no one seemed upset.

I'm sorry, but does anyone understand how much good that money could have done?

Karma's Real - God Friended Me Season 2 Episode 7

I understand that the lesson was about not prioritizing money or material things over relationships, but there was a more logical way to handle the situation.

Sameer could have cashed in the money before the deadline and continued looking for the rightful owner. Once he found them, he could have transferred over the winnings.

Restoring his karma was important; I get that.

Unlike his brother and Miles, I believe in karma and think that what you put out into the world comes back at you tenfold.

But there was no indication that the only way to restore that karma was to sign over the ticket to the person instead of cashing it and delivering the money afterward.

Pastor Olivia - God Friended Me Season 2 Episode 7

Sameer made that up, and it became an unnecessary obstacle.

Judy's medical bills were probably through the roof after that brain aneurysm, and she could have benefitted from that million.

Karma wouldn't have minded. Sameer probably would have gotten some bonus points for helping Judy AND returning the money to the rightful owner.

I couldn't stop shaking my head at this storyline.

Oh, I'm sorry. Did the atheist just tell me to go to church?

Money isn't everything, but it is necessary.

As expected, Rakesh and Jaya's "fake relationship" is presenting problems.

Mainly, Jaya is going on dinner dates set up by her parents so that she can find "a good man."

What did she think was going to happen?

Her parents didn't respect her wishes to remain single and to focus on school.

Patel Brothers - God Friended Me Season 2 Episode 7

If she isn't going to settle down with Rakesh, they'll find her another suitable man. Until Jaya stands up to her parents, this isn't going to end. And she's going to lose a great guy because of it.

Jaya told Rakesh not to worry, but how could he not?

While Rakesh's relationship is struggling, Cara and Miles' has never been better.

After working through her fear of abandonment, Cara finally mustered up the courage to tell Miles how she felt about him.

We all knew her feelings for Miles were serious, but it was nice to hear her say it out loud.

Paying in Treats - God Friended Me Season 2 Episode 7

If you watch God Friended Me online, you were likely tickled by the Paris callback.

Hopefully, whatever story Cara is chasing with Adam doesn't cause tension between her and Miles.

Rakesh helped her locate a man named Jonathan Carter that's connected to her Wall Street Scandal, but we don't know much else.

Will Carter somehow be connected to the God Account?

Will he be the next Friend Suggestion?

What do you think Arthur will do about his situation?

Will Ali pursue her new calling?

And what does the God Account want Miles to find inside that house?
