Grey's Anatomy Season 12 Episode 18
There's a Fine, Fine Line
The "code pink" is surprisingly brief. Karev is panicked about a missing patient whose parents are in the midst of a fierce custody battle, and there's also a chance that the child could be unstable. He bullies Miranda and security into calling a lockdown, but when he steals a key card from an officer and runs to find the father, he sees the boy hiding beneath the main stairs.
After Karev manipulates Bailey into calling a "code pink" for a missing peds patient, sending the hospital into lockdown, she must investigate the event's leading up to Ben's decision to operate on a patient in the hallway. A series of flashbacks shows other doctors stories lining up with Ben's version of events -- everything seemed fine and was going alright until the patient suddenly started to decel. The lockdown was an unfortunate coincidence. That is until Bailey is finishing paperwork with the security team, and notices something on the review of the tapes. While the patient was in distress during the lockdown, the alarms were shut off and doors unlocked just before Ben made the first cut. Miranda had tried to delegate Ben's discipline to an uncooperative Webber, and now Ben is outraged that she's not taking his side.
The other residents are convinced that Ben will get off with a slap on the wrist because he's the chief's wife. Webber overhears and is obviously uncomfortable with the idea that Ben gets special treatment.
April attempts to apologize to Jackson, but they get interrupted by the code pink, and then she gets roped into the surgery on Gretchen.
